Hey there, beauties! A few months ago I embarked on a journey to find the best natural deodorants. After some research, I placed an order online, and purchased all the ones with the best reviews – then tested them against my tried and true favs. The results? Some are good, some are amazing, and one left my pits super itchy. Keep reading to see which ones scored best!
FINDING THE BEST NATURAL DEODORANT
Before I get into the reviews, here’s a list of my top must haves for deodorant. First, I want one that doesn’t irritate my sensitive skin. My underarms become easily inflamed with certain products, so I need a gentle formula. Second, I’d love for it to keep me dry and of course stank free. With natural options, you’ll often hear that they don’t truly keep you dry, or that the stink can come through. With these I can assure you, that even in hot and cold, you’ll stay dry!
*Note: I’ve been wearing aluminum free deodorants for a year, and have already gone through the “detox” phase. If you’re new to these types of deodorants, you may experience sweating and smell at first. The longer you stick with these, the better they work!
LAVANILA THE HEALTHY DEODORANT
First up, is the Lavanila Health Deodorant. This baby has been in my stash for years, though it’s only recently that I’ve used it exclusively (without alternating with traditional anti-perspirants). The pros include the packaging, non-offensive scents, and its long lasting (and effective) formula. Unfortunately, the cons are the white marks it leaves behind, and the dryness it causes. While it doesn’t leave me stinky, it does leave me itchy. It’s a little too drying, so I can’t use this for longer than 3-4 days in a row.

KORRES EQUISETUM 24HR DEORORANT
The Korres deodorant has been on my radar for a while, as it has amazing reviews on Sephora’s site. It’s a bit more expensive than Lavanila, and it comes in a roller ball (versus a solid). I can’t smell any fragrance in this, but like most roller balls it will leave your pits wet until it dries down. I also found out it will stain a silk shirt, so apply this BEFORE dressing! As for it’s effectiveness, it keeps me dry and fresh all day. Zero complaints on that end!

ORIGINS NO OFFENSE ALCOHOL & ALUMINUM FREE DEODORANT
I’m a huge fan of Origins skincare, so when I saw they offered a deodorant I was so excited. The formula is a gel, but it takes a lot of work to actually apply it. I’m not sure if mine is a dud, but it’s really stiff and not the easiest to glide on. Once it goes on though, the results are worth it. The gel is clear (no white marks, yay!), and left me perfectly dry all day. I should mention that I tested it in the winter, so hot days might fare different.

TARTE CLEAN QUEEN VEGAN DEODORANT
On to my most tried and true favorite! I’ve shared my love for this product all over social media. It has a creamy formula that glides on with ease, a soft (non-offensive) scent, and it really works to keep you dry. I wasn’t expecting a makeup company to make an amazing deodorant, but they did great with this. On super hot humid days I will reapply (for my own reassurance), but for the majority of the year you don’t need to worry. I’ve repurchased it about six times, so trust me it does work!

SCHMIDT’S ROSE + VANILLA NATURAL DEODORANT
I saved the best for last. In terms of performance, price, and scent, this one hits it out of the park. I am seriously impressed! The rose scent is soft and not headache inducing, but it lingers and smells great all day. The formula is so effective I never have to worry if I’m close to home for reapplication, and it doesn’t cause any irritation. I’ve worn this while unpacking boxes, during freakishly hot winter days (oh how I miss NC), and during very stressful situations. The results were all the same, I was dry and smelling great. The formula can be a little stiff upon the first application, but once it warms up, it’s much easier. Overall, this is my TOP choice and the one I recommend most! I’m sure your wallet will be happy 😉

TOP CHOICE & WORST CHOICE
After trying these babies for months, I can say with certainty the Schmidt’s Naturals is your best choice. It’s the largest, cheapest, and most effective. The others are a close second, while Origins scores the lowest due to its hard to use formula. If the stick wasn’t so hard to apply, it would have tested better.
So, there you have it! My experience with both high end, and affordable natural deodorants. Since wrapping up my testing for this post, I’ve discovered even more options so stay tuned for volume two!
I’d love to hear your thoughts on these products. Have you tried any? Let me know!
