I am seriously loving Profusion Cosmetics! This new to me brand landed on my doorstep a few months ago, and I’ve been obsessed ever since. The shadows are super pigmented, and the blushes are easy to apply. In the past I would have thrown these items to the side, but affordable formulas have really improved!
You can find Profusion at Target, and online at profusioncosmetics.com. The prices are extremely reasonable, and the quality of each product is fantastic. They have a ton of great items in their line up, including 21-pan eyeshadow palettes, lip kits, blush palettes, and cream correctors. I received a bundle products to test, and will be talking about my two favs – the Mixed Metals Peach Eyeshadow Palette, and the Studio Icon Collection Blush Palette!
MIXED METALS PEACH PALETTE
This 9-pan eyeshadow palette comes in a set with a brush, lip liner, and lip gloss, and retails for $10. I wasn’t into the metallic finish of the gloss, but the shadows and brush are great. Each shade has great pigmentation, and performs beautifully on the lids. They blend without fuss, and don’t leave behind a mess of fallout.
The theme of this palette is peach, but it has deeper warm tones that work perfect for fall inspired looks. It comes with a variety of matte and satin finishes, including a matte highlight (so many palettes lack this), and neutral transition shades. It doesn’t have a matte black, so you’ll have to reach for that from another palette in order to add smokey dimension. But overall, the shades included are fantastic for creating soft or bold looks.
As for wear time, I’ve had zero issues with fading or creasing when paired with a shadow primer. They remain vibrant for 10+ hours, and the deeper shades don’t migrate. The palette itself is slim, and comes with a mirror, so it’s great for travel. The packaging is plastic, and as you can see it does scratch easily. It makes for texture during photographs, but in person it’s really no big deal.
STUDIO ICON BLUSH PALETTE
I am really impressed with the blush palette. It has a nice mixture of easy to wear pinks and peaches, and they blend like a dream. They are nicely pigmented, but not to the point where they are hard to apply. The lightest pink shade (first in the top row) is more of a highlight, but the rest are great for the everyday wear on the cheeks. Best of all, this baby retails for just five bucks!
The formula is smooth and creamy, and there isn’t a lot of kickback when you swirl a brush into it. They glide onto cheeks easily without looking muddy or splotchy, and they wear nicely on my dry skin for about 8 hours. If you’re more oily, you might have to reapply sooner, but wearing a face primer can prevent that. As for application, you can use a variety of tools like a beauty sponge, synthetic blush brush, or a duo fiber brush. I prefer synthetic slanted brushes, but each of those methods works well.
QUALITY WITHOUT THE SPLURGE
I was really iffy about these at first. When it comes to $5 and $10 products, chances are the quality is going to be hit or miss. You think of patchy shadows, and plastic smelling powders. That is definitely not the case with Profusion! The eyeshadows blend beautifully, the pigmentation is spot on, and shadows smell like vanilla – no cheap plastic smell! The blush palette has wonderful color payoff, and rivals most high end palettes that cost triple.
The swatches above were mostly one swipe into the product, they are that good! Most importantly, they perform just as well on the lids. So get yourself to Target and check these out!
